SOME OF MY MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK RELEASES FOR MARCH 2012

Booking Through Thursday Your most challenging read.

Posted by Lori On Thursday, October 27, 2011
Booking Through Thursday is a weekly bookish meme.
Anyone can play along! Just comment to the following:
What’s the hardest/most challenging book you’ve ever read? Was it worth the effort? Did you read it by choice or was it an assignment/obligation?

My thoughts:
If I am being honest, I think the most challenging and most difficult read for me would be the bible. I know for some it is easy as can be....but for me...not so much. I don't like how it is written, I also don't like most of its content. I know that to many it might be sacred and absolute, but I found myself torn between wanting to argue the meaning of it all, trying to understand what was trying to be told...after all it is open to interpetation, or feeling guilty over the fact that I didn't agree or even like most of what was written. I didn't find it an enjoyable read....in fact...I never really finished it.

I also find it difficult to read self help books or how to do manuals...I get bored very easily with them. So it is a challenge to read through them.

 What about you?

I've never tried really reading the bible, but I think the sheer size definitely puts me off.

My BTT is here if you'd like a look :)

With the Bible I think it helps to see that it contains a lot of different literary styles. Made a world of difference to me when I started to grasp that. Even the gospels differ from each other.

As for self-help books I agree. Nowadays I just sigh whenever someone suggests "ten simple steps to..." whatever!

I've read the bible, and parts of it are lovely... but overall... not. It might help of I was Christian but even so....

Maybe if you try reading each book within as a seperate book instead of reading the compeltaion as a whole? Maybe??
